Re: What should I do after passing 12th to become a Psychiatrist?
First of all you have to complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and then you have to appear for an entrance examination for getting admission into MBBS course.
After completion of MBBS you have to go for specialization course in Psychiatry. Getting a MD (Psychiatry) qualification will make you a registered Psychiatrist and you will be able to run your own clinic for counselling patients. Hence if you are a 12th pass student with PCM then be ready for the entrance examination so that you get a top Medical college for doing MBBS. The top Medical Colleges in India are listed below: -All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi NCR -Christian Medical College (CMC-Vellore) Vellore -Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune -Kasturba Medical College Mangalore -Kasturba Medical College Manipal -NMIMS University Mumbai -Jwaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) Pondicherry -Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) Delhi NCR -Madras Medical College Chennai -Lady Hardinge Medical College Delhi NCR -Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Medical University Lucknow -SNDT Womens University Mumbai -Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) Kochi Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute ,Bangalore |

Re: What should I do after passing 12th to become a Psychiatrist?
Hello,
In order to become a psychiatrist, a person must have either a M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy. In addition to this, a four year residency must be completed with at least three of these years specifically in the practice of psychiatry. After completing this residency, prospective psychiatrists must then pass a written and oral examination. The written exam lasts a full day and covers basic science, clinical psychiatry and specialty areas within psychiatry. The oral segment of the exam is design to assess skills in real settings through actual observation of an examination and patient history with a client. Once the exam has been completed, the individual is then eligible to apply for board certification. This certification is granted through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Once a psychiatrist has been granted board certification, he or she may practice legally anywhere in the United States. However, this certification must be renewed every ten years. Good Luck |

No because to become a full-time psychiatrist you must have a pre-med bachelor's degree which requires 50% or above score in biology.
