What should be the minimum educational qualification to become a Lecturer in regular colleges?
I want to be an English subject Lecturer in regular colleges and I have completed my graduation from non college. Can I be an English subject Lecturer after completing my MA English from IGNOU? Would I'll be requiring any further degrees apart from MA? What about B.Ed or M.Ed?

Re: What should be the minimum educational qualification to become a Lecturer in regular colleges?
To be become an Assistant Professor (lecturer) of any recognised university, you are required to qualify entrance examinations such as NET/SET/SLET.
Further, the minimum education required to appearing in these examinations is a master's degree ( in your interested paper for teaching) with at least 55% marks from a recognised university. Marks relaxation upto 5% is allowed for candidates belonging to reserved category. So, as mentioned above, you will be eligible to become a lecturer by qualifying NET/SET, once you complete your post graduation degree course in English from a recognised university (which includes IGNOU which is one of the Central University) with the minimum marks in post graduation degree as mentioned above. Also, there is no need to pursue B.Ed. or M.Ed. degree courses, for becoming a lecturer. |

To become lecturer in English, MA in English is not enough. You will have to qualify UGC-NET exam also.
Minimum requirement to appear for UGC-NET exam is at least 55% marks in post graduation. So, if you have completed MA English with at least 55% marks, then you can appear for UGC NET exam. |
