Syllabus for IPS Exam
The IPS examination is conducted in three stages, the preliminary examination, the main examination and the interview. The preliminary examination is divided into two papers they are general studies and optional subject. The syllabus covered under preliminary examination is precisely given below:

General Studies:

Under the general studies paper, the syllabus covered is history of India and Indian National Movement, general mental ability, Indian and world geography, current events of national and international importance, Indian polity and economy. Optional subjects:

Agriculture:

Some of the topics covered under agriculture are factors determining geographical distribution and agro ecological zones of crop plants, cultural practices for pulses, cereal, scientific basis for crop rotations, importance of crop plants, etc…For detailed syllabus the candidates can visit http://upsc.gov.in/exams/notifications/csp2009/syll-prel/cspr-agri.htm.

Animal husbandry and veterinary science:

Some of the topics covered under this subject are role of livestock in human health and Indian economy, nutrition, animal production, genetics and breeding, infections in animals, etc… For detailed syllabus the candidates can visit http://upsc.gov.in/exams/notifications/csp2009/syll-prel/cspr-ani.htm.

Botany:

Some of the topics covered under this subject are cell biology, biodiversity, plant genetic resources, plant and environment, methods of reproduction and seed biology, plant physiology, etc… For detailed syllabus the candidates can visit http://upsc.gov.in/exams/notifications/csp2009/syll-prel/cspr-btny.htm.

Chemistry:

Civil Engineering:

Commerce:

Some of the topics covered under this subject are accounting and auditing, company law, management, different types of business organizations like partnership, sole proprietorship, etc…

IPS exam stands for Indian police service which is conducted by UPSC.

Eligibility;-

-------you must be graduate from a recognized university.There is no percentage requirement.

---Age limits is 21-30 years.

----you must be Indian citizen.

IPS stands for Indian Police service.

Those candidate have completed graduation degree from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.Final year student are applicable for IPS Exam.

Age criteria for IPS exam for general candidate is 21 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is there as per govt rule .

Age relaxation for IPS exam:-

5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates
3 years relaxation for OBC Candidates
10 years relaxation for PHC candidates
5 years relaxation for Ex-serviceman

The maximum no of attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Selection process of this exam are - Preliminary exam ,Mains exam and Personal Interview

There are only 4 attempts available for General category ..

Dear Sangesh,

The acronym for IPS is Indian Police Services.

IPS is a civil services examination, which is conducted every year by Union Public Service Commission(UPSC).

The eligibility criteria required for the IPS examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of graduation in any track from any accredited college or university.

* Final year cotendors are also eligible for this examination.

* Age limit:- 21-30 yrs - General.
21-33 yrs - OBC.
21-35 yrs - SC/ST.

* Nationality:- Indian.

* No. of attempts:- 5 for General, 7 for OBC and no attempts for SC/ST contendors.

IPS Stands for Indian Police Service.

IPS Exam is conduct by Union Public Service Commission. IPS Is Civil Services Examination.
This Exam Conduct at National Level. IPS is high rank Examination in Police Department.


Here is Eligibility Criteria:

Education: you must have graduation degree any stream from recognized University.
Age limit: your age must between 21 - 30 years.
Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST 7 3 years for OBC Candidates.

Physical:
Height: 157.5cms.
Chest: 79cms. - 84 cms.

Examinations Pattern:
There are two exams conduct for IPS Post. Preliminary and Mains Examination. 45 Days Gap Between these two examination. if you want to be IPS Then you have to clear both two Examinations.
