Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
there is vast use of reservation in society. as in our every walk of life we find people of different inability like physically handicapped, financially challenged, mentally poor people. by by reserving them some room in different dimensions we can help them. like reserving seats in transportation , by reserving some seats in educational institutions etc. this will really boost up their confidence as well as motivate them they are the negligible people. they have full freedom to fly in the open air. that's what i feel.

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
Well,Dr B.R Ambedkar who has written the constitution of India is really a great man.It was due to him that the reservation system has come into existence. But it was during the 1950's the so called reserved category that comprises of SC/ST/BC/Handicapped were given preference.by giving them a certain number of seats for examinations of any sector like education, jobs, politics and other such streams.
But time has changed and now the so called GEN category have been pushed back and reserved category members have entered into all the segments and are ruling the world. Coming to the question i don't think there is any use of the reservation system in the present world.Time has moved forward and even must we move forward. But the reservation system has even got some uses like the backward caste people with less annual income can get into good colleges or any other department with less fee to be paid.Even meritorious students from backward sectors have a very good opportunity by the reservation. |

reservation help those student to come out whose family background is not good.still in india there are many tribe where there is no education.the major purpose of reservation to help them so they can educate their children.A major portion of reservation category belong to lower class and its difficult for them to compete with higher class ,goverment help them by providing reservation.

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
To help the people of backward classes to come forward and promote their development even though it may appear to general category people that it is unnecessary but from point of view of SC/St people who dont even have access to even to basic amenities.

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
Actually reservation have been done to make an improvement a weakest backward class people in the time of 1950-60.In this point of view Dr.B.R.Ambedkar promote a new rule,as the rule is named as reservation.
In the present scenario backward people are developed and come to the front row with other people, they are well established.Presently the system is not needed in our point of view.Further more a country can not progress with reservation system. |

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
hi...
if you are talking about the reservation given to the backward class people in the education and government employment field then it is don only to bring the backward people on par with the mainstream, but actually it should not be don on the basis of cast but rather it should be don on the basis of economic status then it would be an better way to help the society, because giving the reservation on the basis of cast brings an divide among the students and in an way it is one of the major cause for bringing divide among the Indians right from there educational days |

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
The governments criteria for reservation is totally wrong. The reservation should be economic or finance strength basis not should be based on caste or religion.

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
Ohhoo it is a good matter of discussion .Reservation system was implemented to raise the status of economically backward people or in other words lower caste poor people so,that they can make there future .
This looked good that time but now general candidate are suffering problems in almost every field due to reservation. I don’t think Reservation has any importance in society .it is just for raising the level of standard of poors. |

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
Reservation was started with the aim of supporting the backward classes and the poor to achieve social transformation. But today it is loosing its meaning by blindly giving reservation to all backward people which may also have high class rich people. And also due to these activity these people with less knowledge and awareness cannot become a strong base for future india. A lot of people in forward classes are poor and are unable to take a qualified education. So i suggest better to provide good educational facilities to all students at lower standards and provide reservation for only merit students in a balanced way. It is also good to provide scholarship to those meritorious students. This may completely prevent the loss of budget spending on merit less students and thus we can lay a strong base to develop INDIA as a super power.

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
Quote:
A reservation can be defined as a particular privilege given to a person or group of persons on the basis of their certain designation by caste, religion etc. So, basically reservation is following types in Indian context. Caste based reservation Gender based reservation Religion based reservation Disability based reservation Reservation by domicile, descendant of army or other government officials. Positive aspects Reservation encourages participation of every class of people in all the activities of country. eg. The people of tribal area used to be self saturated by their hand to mouth activities. But, when they started getting reservation in government jobs, institutions etc, their participation in country's activity increased. Actually a country is nothing but a group of people in a confined region. So, development of country can be done by development of its public. This helps getting the right to equality. The students of rural and tribal area can't access all the knowledge and studies things of the kind that students of urban area do. So if we want to equalize the public it becomes necessary to give reservation to the students of rural area so as to encourage them towards education and government jobs ie. this exposes them to the diverse society of country and hence encourages their participation in technical as well as social development. The same concept works in all sort of reservation whether it is religion based, caste based or gender based. The life of women in India was full of constraints before independence. But, after independence their freedom increased day by day and I think they are now doing everything at par to men. Negative aspects The caste based reservation is wrongly used for political advantages. People are more sensitive for reservation rather than their daily needs. People don't care for fresh water, middle schools, roads etc but they do care about reservation in first priority otherwise they kick the leader at the time of election. One who takes reservation to them is envisaged a good leader and wins the elections. Sometimes people who are rich but belong to the privileged caste/region/religion get reservation, which is not fair to those people who are poor but belong to unprivileged caste/region/religion. Apart from these general points you can refer the advantage or disadvantage of a particular bill or reservation policy like Woman's reservation bill in Parliament of India, Reservation issues bu Gujjars in Rajasthan etc. |

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
The term “Reservation” has been doing the rounds within the Indian media circuit of late
owing to the government decision to implement 27% quota for the OBCs in the educational institutions of higher learning. After the independence of India large number of societies are misleading or they are very un developed , for these reasons the government of that day introduced the concept of reservations so that there would be equal progress of all sections of the society. After nearly 60 years of independence now, general category people have started to feel that they are being subjugated and that the odds have been stacked against them. At a time like this, the government’s decision to bring out legislation to implement a 27% quota for OBCs adds further fuel to the fire. The decision has indeed drawn flak from many quarters. Getting reservations would be a good thing, but the advantage always lies with the “more privileged” section of these backward castes. Its ok with the reservation policy but it should not be over grown . and must be limitations to the % of reserved seats. |

Re: What is the use of reservation and society?
Use of reservation in society is a hot topic in our indian society. As per the history of india, indian people were divided as per their work. They were very professional in their trades, they were continuing this through their generations. The upper casts were controlling the society and as per records they were gaining all the benefits to their near and dears. SO govt of india has felt that something is required to be given to the lower casts and tribals in india. So govt has passed the reservation bill in india. So many agitations were against it but lastly it was accepted by our society. and I am very happy with this policy, because the lower parts our community is secured atleast.Even I am from the upper cast of this society and I am not going to benifitted from it'

Re: What is the use of reservation in society?
Reservation can be defined as special privilage given to economically poors, physically and mentally challanged people in order to provide them some relief so that they can raise their status in society.it was implemented around 1950s but now scenario has changed.needy people are not getting benefits and corrupted people are getting benifited by this. so i think some steps are needed to check the copuption so that needy people can get the benefit.

Re: What is the use of reservation in society?
since our constitution provides every citizens equal right in the eye of law through fundamental rights and it is the duty of state to protect their right.
As some people who didnt get equal status in the administration or if the number of representation of some groups or people are less in the government administration which includes govt jobs and govt funded colleges. to bring equal representations from the all groups of society govt gives reservations to the backward people. so we can say that reservation is a tool through which socially and economically back people are able to make representation in all aprts of the govt. |

Re: What is the use of reservation in society?
from my point of view reservation in our society is very bad in current scenario, because now the people are also miss use this system.they also change there cast by fake and get the job.and the another thing is the backward people who never deserve the position but by reservation system they catch the the position, they shouldn't perform like a efficiency person for this now our country is called developing country not developed country.so govt should revise this system and allow reservation system for the economic basic............jay jagannath

As per a recent survey on Indian population distribution
16% SC, 7% ST, 50% OBC, 15% Muslims and christians and 12% forward castes (FC) Highest ranking class A or B officers > 85% are FC Around 74% population live in villages 15% FC own >90% of village lands 85% others depend on this 15% FC for their livelihood Out of 543 seats in lok sabha, 25% seats to SC/ST reserved Out of 75% open, >80% are FC 50 years of reservations could acheive only this - when will everyone in the society get an equal opportunity? |

Re: What is the use of reservation in society?
Reservation is used as a tool by the government to uplift weaker section society in economically, socially and as well as financially. It was actually done to eliminate inequality among people. It was actually done to reduce the gap between upper caste and lower caste.
Its goal was to inspire lower caste people to come forward and do growth but it is discouraging other category people because this reservation system gives reservations to people in most of the competitive exams as well as in government job entrance on the basis of caste and not on merit. In spite of having good merit students don't get admission and candidates don't get jobs that demotivates talented and hardworking students and youths. They know that they won't get job in spite of being capable which is very sad. The policy was made to uplift lower caste which is very positive but on the other hand its having bad impact on deserving candidates. There should be certain changes has to be done in this policy so that candidates belongs to all categories will get benefited equally and will have equal rights. In fact there should not be categories, everyone should be treated equally and the person who deserves the best should get benefited, be it is college admission or any government jobs. |

Re: What is the use of reservation in society?
A reservation was used by the government to uplift lower cast people for their growth. It helped them to improve financially, economically, and personally. But on the other hand, it also had a bad impact on other category people. Despite having good merit students were not getting admission to the dream college and deserving candidates were not getting government jobs which is very sad. This demotivates deserving, hardworking, and talented people. This policy is helping lower caste people and other categories people are going through injustice. if there were no reservation category then it would be a better place for all those who see dreams and work very hard to achieve those dreams. the person who deserves will get benefited, not based on any other caste or category.
