can you guess what will be the qualifying score of gate 2011...
like gate 2010 was 25.01...
it would be above or below to the last year tell me...

see, cut off fully depends on the result of candidate.

if many student can cross the previous year cut off, then it will be larger than previous year.

but although it will be move +-25.

all the best.......

for which branch you ask because this year mechanical cut off is more than 30.
for all branch may be different cut-off.for civil,electrical for the same cut-off.
but comp.sc,mech is may be high cut-off from previous year.

Hi,

As you know that many aspiring candidates appear for GATE every year and the number keeps on increasing.
The cut off is based on 2 criteria:

1.No.Of Candidates
2.Average marks of each candidate

Now it really cant be predicted what will be the cut off this time, but last time it was 25, and going by the trend you can expect it to be some where around 26.
But however, it is really not possible to predict, only time will tell the story.

Cut off depends on the Paper if paper is easy then it may cross 25 otherwise it will below 25.
As I know about previous results of Gate it will around 25 not so much less not too much greater then 25

xpected cut off for chemical engg?????

gate cutoff depends on calculation of percentile
for eg if a person gets 80 marks and if it is highest mark it is considerd as
100 percentile and the remaining students are also graded based upon
the toppers marks.
those students who get 40 percentile gets qualified.

gate cutoff wil also be different for oc,bc and st,sc.
if it is for 30 marks for oc then it would be 25 for bc and may be 18 or
20 for sc and st's.

Well though the papers were relatively easy the cut offs are gonna come downby some marks.

if i have got 37 marks out of 100 in gate 2011 with mech. engg.then what colleges can i take admit in?

friend u have to mentioned ur branch first.as the cut-off mark varies according to branch.

last year for each branch the avg. is 25 so this year it is expected that the score will be more than previous year as the questions are simple than previous year.

this year the cut-off is expected to be around 25. it may be slightly higher or lower based on the mass performance

i am getting 65 in ec what rank i can expect

You have not mentioned your branch, for different branch cut-off will be different. Exact cut-off nobody can say as it depends on-

1. total no. of appeared students (which is fixed)

2. average marks obtained by students (which is not fixed).

However for mechanical cut-off will be more than 30 and for all other branches it will be approx 25 to 27.

well aim attaching a file that contain gate cutoff of different COLLEGES .

you can see and can find that which college you can get and is best for you .

the cutoff for Gate EC is 26.14 for general category..
