I want to know that when is the polytechnic exam 2012. So, it is kindly requested to you that please inform us that when is the exam of polytechnic 1st year for which we are awaiting for. So we hope that you will help us according to our need what we what.

The students alleged that they were informed about the schedule and centre 24 hours before the exam and according to the exam schedule they were to appear for two papers in as many sittings which, they claimed, was against the rule of All India Council for Technical Education.

While Part III students are required to write exams daily in two sittings, they have also been asked to fill up forms for clearing the papers which they failed in second year from June 24 to 26. "How can we appear for the exam and fill up exam forms for compartmental exam at the same time," a student said. "Besides, BIT Sindri is situated nearly 30km away from Dhanbad and going to the exam centre and coming back home will make us exhausted. How can we prepare for the next day's exam in this situation?"

According to the students, the state government has fixed the date for competitive exam for lateral entry from diploma to engineering degree on June 26. "We are in a fix on how to appear for the (polytechnic) test till 5pm on Saturday and reach Ranchi on Sunday (for the competitive exam) and return here to appear at the exam the next day," another student said.

The authorities of BIT Sindri, however, said they had informed the state board about the students' decision to boycott the exam.

When contacted, Natua Hansda, the controller of examinations of SBTE, Ranchi, refuted the allegations of the students and said that exams were going on peacefully at Dumka, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro and Koderma centres. As far as the question of distance of exam centre was concerned, the centre for Government Polytechnic Latehar has been fixed to Ranchi which is nearly 100 km away and the students were appearing peacefully, Hansda said adding that earlier also students of the four polytechnics had appeared in BIT Sindri and there was no protest.

About the lateral entry exam on June 26 at Ranchi, Hansda said Dumka students would also appear at the same exam, travelling just double the distance from Ranchi. But there was no protest.
