For Diploma admission every state has their own Polytechnic entrance exam and you can apply for it if you are 10th pass from a recognized board of education.

State Technical Council conducts the polytechnic entrance exam for giving admission in the Diploma course. For example, West Bengal has JEXPO and Odisha has DET. Similarly UP has JEECUP and Uttarakhand has JEEP.

You can apply for polytechnic entrance of any state including your home state. The best chance of getting admission in a government polytechnic will be in the polytechnic entrance of your home state.

If you are applying for other state polytechnic entrance then you will be eligible for only a few seats which are reserved for outside candidates.
