How is the age calculated for appearing in UPSC?

Respected Sir, for appearing in UPSC Exam age is calculated as 1.8.xx. Whether the age is running age or completed age as on 1.8.xx?
For example D.O.B is 1.10.84 (OBC category) then what will be the age for appearing in 2017 UPSC exam?

You should know that UPSC conduct many exams for different posts & departments. One of the best exams which UPSC conduct is a Civil Service Exam & every year lacs of candidates applies for this. Minimum age is 21 years & maximum age is 32 years. If the date of birth is 1.10.1984 then a candidate has completed 30 years & its up to the UPSC when they will conduct exam in 2017. As per the age criteria a candidate can apply as the maximum age limit is 32 years. Apart from that OBC category candidates gets age relaxation of 3 years means can apply till the age of 35 years.

*OBC candidates: 21-35 years.

*SC/ST candidates: 21-37 years.

Your date of birth is 01.10.1984 and on 01.8.2017, it will be 32 years and 10 months. You can apply for Civil Services examination that will be conducted in 2017.

UPSC is a commission which conducts various exams for various post. It conducts exam every year on different dates. So, If you want to apply for UPSC exam then you should remember the age limit for this.

Age limit criteria for different categories:

Applicant's age should be between 21 to 32 years for general category.

OBC- 3 years ( 21 to 35 years)
SC/ST- 5 years ( 21 to 37 years)

From these, you can easily know whether you are eligible to apply for UPSC or not.

For appearing in UPSC ,the age relaxation are:-
1. Minimum age 21 years
2. Maximum age 32 years

You should be 21 year old and shouldn't more than 32 years from the closing date of application.

Thumbs down Re: How is the age calculated for appearing in UPSC?

UPSC calculates age as on 1st August of the year in which the exam is conducted. So, for the 2020 civil services exam, you should be above 21 years of age as on 1st August 2020. Even the upper age is calculated as on 1st August. So, you should not be more than 32 years as on 1st August 2020.
