Custom officers are employed in one of 4 capacities.
Group A level
Group B level

Preventive officers of Group B level
In order to become a preventive officer , candidate must pass the SSC CGL test .
Only custom officers need to apply , and they are placed near the shore(for seas and airports)
This is one of the customs department's more exciting positions since one gets to wear a white uniform

Indian Customs Inspector
Choose the examiner after passing SSC CGL exam , they will be in charge of custom duties at sea ports and airports and they are solely accountable for those duties.

Applicants must hold bachelor's degree with atleast 55% marks from a recognised university
Those who are between 21 to 30 years are eligible to apply.
Candidates must take civil service exam administered by UPSC or SSC CGL exam to become custom officer.
