The Non-Technical Commission (Non-TC) in the Indian Army is a recruitment process for the Non-Technical Trades (NTTs) in the Army. It is a merit-based process and candidates are selected based on their performance in the written exam, physical fitness test, and medical examination.
The notification for the Non-TC in the Indian Army is usually released in the month of February or March. The application process starts after the notification is released and candidates have to apply online.
The eligibility criteria for the Non-TC in the Indian Army are as follows:
  • Age: The candidate must be between 17 years and 42 years of age as on the 01st of July of the year of entry.
  • Education: The candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Physical Standards: The candidate must meet the physical standards laid down by the Indian Army.
The selection process for the Non-TC in the Indian Army is as follows:
  • Written Exam: The written exam is a computer-based test (CBT) and consists of 2 papers. Paper 1 is of 100 marks and is objective in nature. Paper 2 is of 100 marks and is descriptive in nature.
  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT): The PFT consists of the following:
    • 1.6 km run in 6 minutes
    • Pull-ups (9 for men and 7 for women)
    • Sit-ups (20 for men and 15 for women)
    • 9 feet ditch crossing (8 times for men and 6 times for women)
  • Medical Examination: The medical examination is conducted to check the physical fitness of the candidate.
The candidates who are shortlisted in the written exam and PFT are called for the medical examination. The candidates who are declared fit in the medical examination are recommended for training.
The training for the Non-TC in the Indian Army is conducted at the OTAs (Officer Training Academies) located at Chennai, Gaya, and Bangalore. The training is for a period of 6 months and the candidates are taught the basic military skills and knowledge.
After the completion of training, the candidates are commissioned as Non-Technical Officers in the Indian Army.
