CDS exam doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation degree.

CDS stands for COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICE

The educational qualification and age criteria for CDS exam is given below-

Indian Military Academy:- You need to be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized university. Your age should be between 19 to 24 years.

Air Force Academy:- You need to have a bachelor's degree in science with physics or mathematics or B.E./B.Tech in engineering or technology. Your age should be between 19 to 23 years.

Naval Academy:- You need to complete your graduation in engineering or technology or you can do B.Sc degree with physics or mathematics. Your age should be between 19 to 23 years.

Officer's Training Academy:- You need to have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. Your age should be between 19 to 25 years.

The important thing about the educational qualification needed for CDS exam is candidate should have completed degree and that can be in any stream, there is no specific percentage which is needed to be attained in order to apply for the exam.

Apart from the educational qualification there are certain other criteria's which are also needed to be satisfied such as:

• Nationality
• Age limit
• Physical standard

-> The nationality standard states that candidate should have a citizenship in India

-> Age limit needed for joining in IMA is 19-24 years, for Indian navy 19-22 years, for IAF it is 19-23 years and for OTA it is 19-25 years

-> The candidate need to be physically fit in order to apply for the exam.


Candidates are selected through:

1. Written Exam
2. Interview

CDS stands for Combined Defense Services.The CDS exam is conducted by UPSC to recruit personnel in Indian Army.It recruits personnel for different wings of Indian Army.

There is no specific percentage bar to appear for the exam.You are eligible to sit for the exam after completing graduation in Engineering.

The eligibility criteria to appear in CDS exam is different for different Indian Army Wings.

For CDS exam,the age limit are following:-

Indian Military Academy- 19 years to 24 years

Indian Naval Academy-19 years to 22 years

Indian Air Force Academy-19 years to 23 years

Officer's Training Academy-19 years to 25 years

The educational qualification required to sit for the exam are;

Indian Military Academy/Officer's Training Academy- graduation in any discipline.

Indian Naval Academy-B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Indian Air Force Academy-10+2 with Physics and Mathematics or B.Tech degree.

Apart from above eligibility, the candidate should be an Indian to sit for CDS exam.

There is no marks related criteria for CDS exam.You just need to have your degree to be eligible for CDS exam.
You need to clear your supplementary paper and that would be enough.

There are 4 branches of CDS-IMA and OTA for Army,AFA for Airforce and INA for Navy.
For IMA you need to have completed degree from any stream and age limit 19-24years.
For OTA- Need to have completed degree from any stream and age limit 19-25years.

For AFA- Degree in Engineering or degree in Science with Physics or Maths as main subject. Age limit 19-23 years.
INA- Need to have degree in engineering and age limit 19-22years.
Having a B.E/B.Tech you can apply for all the streams of CDS
