Can someone explain me in details which degree is needed to be a professor? And what should i do to be a professor in English subject?

After master's degree with minimum 55% with recognized University than you can appear for UGC NET exams...entrance exam for ph.d (doctors in philosophy)

Steps to become English professor:-

Step 1 - complete an undergraduate degree in English literature or a related field.

Step 2 - apply for Masters program in English literature.

Step 3 - complete an application for a PhD program in English literature

Step 4 - publish papers and other original research

Step 5 - complete your dissertation

Degree which is needed to be a Professor in English subject can be seen below.

You must have MA degree in English literature or relevant subjects with minimum aggregate of 55% from recognized university

You must have UGC NET/ CSIR exam score in relevant subjects.

Now you can apply for position of Assistant Professor in any university.

You need bachelors of arts honors in English and masters of arts in english with minimum 55% to be eligible for Professor. Then, you need to qualify National Eligibility Test to get eligible for PhD. And you are eligible for Assistant professor.
There is no age restriction to become an Assistant professor.

First of all you should complete graduation in English from a recognized university.
After that you have to complete Post Graduation in English with at least 55% marks in aggregate.
Now, you have to clear entrance exam like- NET, GATE, SLET etc. to be eligible to apply in any college to become Professor.

You will need a doctorate in English literature to be a professor. With a master's degree, you can teach freshman writing, and in some community colleges, sophomore literature. But without a doctorate degree, it's hard to get a full-time position.

One basic qualification required is a master's degree in English literature from University recognised by the UGC ( University Grants Commission ) of India.

If you opt to become a professor at university level you must clear your in National Eligibility Test. This exam would test your complete knowledge acquired at Masters level .

Then you must respond to the recruitment notification issued by different universities during every year. The shortlisted candidates will be called for a demonstration class and then they prepare final list.
