Re: Is PGDM in tourism equivalent to MBA?
PGDM is not equivalent to MBA.
MBA is a complete post graduation or master course. Whereas PGDM is postgraduate diploma and is apparently a degree between graduation and postgraduation. But MBA can be offered by only by those colleges which are affiliated to some University . But there is nothing to be worried about. Even though PGDM is not a compare master courses but if you get PGDM from any of the IIMS, it is almost available par than any MBA from other Universities. |

Re: Is PGDM in tourism equivalent to MBA?
The Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a program provided by colleges that are not associated with recognized universities or do not have the authority to grant degrees. As a result, they offer Diploma programs that are similar to MBA programs in terms of content.

Re: Is PGDM in tourism equivalent to MBA?
There is no difference between MBA and PGDM as these are more or less the same management degree courses offered under different tags by different institutions. As per the law of India, only a university can offer courses like BE/BSc or MBA. In the end, an MBA student receives a degree whereas after the PGDM course students receive a diploma.
MBA courses focus more on theoretical and technical aspects of management rather than adopting a practical approach. PGDM courses have an industrial orientation and focus on skills-based on market requirements. The only thing you need to see while selecting any degree/diploma offered by a college/institute is approved by AICTE or not. If yes then all PGDM is equivalent to MBA. |

Re: Is PGDM in tourism equivalent to MBA?
MBA stands for a management degree from a university, while PGDM stands for a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from an AICTE-accredited private college or university. Apart from that, there are no significant differences between MBA and PGDM.So, PGDM and MBA degrees are almost equivalent.

Re: Is PGDM in tourism equivalent to MBA?
--- A PGDM is offered by those autonomous Institute that have been accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education and MBA degree programs are conducted by the universities.
You must have heard that the IIMs offer a PGDM and not an MBA and our still the best in India to get an MBA. MBA and PGDM are not equivalent they are two different courses. PGDM is a more popular choice for people aiming at a corporate career or who are looking to either enter or advanced in the job market. |

Re: Is PGDM in tourism equivalent to MBA?
PGDM is a diploma course whereas MBA is a degree course.
Syllabus of PGDM gets updated as per the needs of industry requirements whereas for MBA , syllabus is curated by universities and gets an update less frequently. Thus PGDM is valid and equivalent to PG degree. Thus there are similarities also between the two and differences also. Both the courses are not exactly the same. They have their own importance. And the choice of course depends on ones interest as well as the need of industry. |

Re: Is PGDM in tourism equivalent to MBA?
Yes, both are equivalent. You will have similar career opportunities because this course is equivalent to an MBA degree.
You can be chosen for management-level positions in a variety of industries, but your specialization is the most important factor. |
