MPhil is 'Master of Philosophy' and PhD means 'Doctor of Philosophy'. Both the degrees are based on research and course work but a PhD has a higher edge over MPhil. Through a PhD, a candidate can teach in universities and the education line as well.

Difference between PhD and MPhil after PHD:-

M Phil and PhD both are research oriented courses the student find it difficult to choose one of them however PhD or Dr of philosophy is the highest ranking degree provided to the scholar by University of their research work in the respective subject opted by them.

On the other hand MPhil that is Master of philosophy is only a postgraduate degree which is both research-based and has a syllabus to the course work.

MPhil an academic research degree that colours the student to master in a particular subject and provide proper knowledge for further research. Where is PhD is an internationally acknowledged high level research degree course offered by Universities that attempts to add something new in the already existing knowledge.

Duration of MPhil two years there as duration of PhD in three years

Stipend is not paid in M Phil., in PhD Fellowship is awarded to students as stipend for conducting research work.

Conclusion:-
MPhil s a less advanced research degree as compared to PHD because in MPhil, student can read the model research paper and go through the latest researches made on the subject to recreate it but in case of PhD research work moves around the concept of creating something new and original to the subject for which continuous experiment and studies is to be performed by student under the guidance of supervisor.
