Re: Whether Engineering students can appear for NET/SLET exam or not?
Engineering degree holders with 60% marks are eligible for NET/SET. If you are M.Tech holder then you need 55% marks in your post graduation to become eligible for these exams. You will be eligible for engineering sciences subject in CSIR NET.
Hence, if you have got this percentage of marks then apply for CSIR NET when the notification is released. You can either apply for JRF or lectureship according to your choice. For JRF there is upper age limit of 28 years. For lectureship there is no such age limit. |

Re: Whether Engineering students can appear for NET/SLET exam or not?
No, Engineering Students are not eligible to appear in State Level Eligibility Test or National Eligibility Test. The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for appearing in NET or SLET Examination is "Post Graduate Degree" (Or) Master's Degree from a recognized university. Candidates must have completed Master's Degree with minimum 55% marks in order to attend SLET or NET Examination. Candidates who are pursuing final year of Master's Degree are also eligible to appear in NET/ SLET Examination as they are treated as Post Graduates. The eligibility criteria required for National Eligibility Test or State Eligibility Test or State Level Eligibility Test remains the same. Basically this NET/ SLET Examination is conducted for the recruitment of Assistant Professor or for doing Phd in recognized universities/ institutions. Since Engineering (B.E) is a Bachelor Degree course, I am sorry to say that Engineering Graduates are not eligible to appear in NET/ SLET Examination.

Below, I have mentioned the eligibility criteria for NET/SLET examination, kindly have a look at it.
Eligibility Criteria: > The basic eligibility for appearing in NET/SLET exam is a Master degree or equivalent in related subjects. > Candidate must have a minimum of 55% (54.99% is not eligible) in it. > Candidates appearing or have appeared for final year exams are also eligible. > For appearing students they must produce their degree certificate within one year from the date of this test, otherwise they will be disqualified. > Candidates who have pursued the degree as specified by UGC only are eligible for the exam. > Candidate can appear for the related subject as studied in graduation. If the subjects are not covered as per UGC specification they can appear for their related subjects. > Candidates qualifying the exam will be called for document verification at final stage. > Candidates who have qualified the SET exam are also eligible to appear for this examination. |
