Gujarat Technological University ME 2nd Sem- Distributed Operating Systems Papers are designed to test the student’s knowledge of the pros and cons of a distributed system in terms of replication and migration with example, the different techniques to avoid a Dead Lock in DOS, the differentiation of the traditional messaging system of network operating system from the messaging system of DOS, explanation of weak consistency models with examples, the mode of implementation of various types of IPC semantics, the various similarities and difference between the RPC and the ordinary procedure call model and so on. Questions can be of the short answer and objective type as well as the long answer type. The student can score well in both sections if the preparation is correct. Other possible topics from which questions can be asked include how cryptography can be implemented for DOS and what terms and like Load balancing mean. All the questions which are 5 in number has been allotted equal marks which is 14. In some questions you get alternative question and you can answer any one of the two.
