The paper on data communications and computer networking is one of the subjective papers to be attempted by an examinee in the second semester of the diploma course in Information Technology. The paper is a 75 marks paper with a maximum time allotted of three hours. It has two sections a compulsory and an optional section where one has to attempt three out of four questions. The topics covered are basics of computer networking like OSI model,7 layer structure, Data transmission, fiber optics, concepts of LAN , transport mechanism, Internet Protocol addressing and others topics related to the basics of networking and communications.
