The University of IGNOU determines its course of law syllabus for its students by starting with an Introduction to Laws. It encompasses the basic requirements of the theoretical introduction that would enable students to grasp the foundations of law and the workings of the legal stipulations. The module of introduction works step by step towards a wholesome understanding of the learners that begins with the basic operational definition of law and the different national and international takes on it. It then moves on to the sources from where law emerged and the schools of laws. The various conceptions are taken into consideration in a detailed format. Since there is a close link between law and treaties and customs, the syllabus puts considerable importance to the inclusion of the definition and incidence of customs in the Indian states. The course finally makes space for the general principles and doctrines of law. The paper patter is very simple. You need to write two 20 marks questions in about 600 words each, then four 10 marks questions in about 300 words each and finally four 5 marks questions in about 150 words each.
