Sathyabama University is a university of science and technology where tenets of engineering subjects are formally instructed and lectured. Aeronautical Engineering is one such subject which uses knowledge of computer to construct and build spacecrafts and planes. An intensive amount of knowledge in physics is also required to handle the machines. Avionics is a sub-part of aeronautical engineering which is the study of electronics in aircrafts. Since communication is a critical requirement in aircrafts and satellite systems, this field assumes great importance. Communication has to be carried out for proper monitoring, flight control, collision avoidance, weather forecast and aircraft management. As the functions are varied, the electronic systems developed to meet the criteria of the functions are also varied and the subject specialises in this region. Besides introduction to spaceships, detailed study of radar, sensor and sonar, radio navigation, display technologies, auto-piloting, atmospheric phenomenon and aircraft instruments form the crux of the course.
