National Law school after writing CLAT exam?


Hi, I would like to know that if I write the CLAT exam can I apply only in the National Law School or in any other Law School. If I want to apply in any other law school, that is any other law school, do I have to write the CLAT exam?

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test and it is conducted by National Law University for the admission in Law colleges situated in different state.

Through CLAT examination candidates are eligible to get admission in 16 Law university of India.

So, if you are interested in getting admission in other law colleges you can appear for the respective entrance examination. For more information about CLAT examination visit at www.clat.ac.in.

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is basically conducted for admission into UG/ PG Programs as per the eligibility. CLAT is an All India Entrance Examination conducted on rotation by 17 National Law University. If you willing to get admission in any of the below mentioned National Law Universities, then you are required to appear in CLAT Entrance Examination. On the other hand, if you wish to do Law course out of the below mentioned colleges/ organizations then you are required to give that particular institution's entrance examination. Here are the Colleges/ Institutes participating and consider CLAT Score for offering Admission.

There are total 16 National Law Universities in India which give admission based on CLAT score through counselling. Therefore, you will be restricted to these universities only if you are applying for CLAT.

If you want admission in any other university then you have to look for any other entrance exam which is mainly conducted by the concerned university.

# Allotment of law college depends upon the choice/option exercised by the candidate in the application form as well as marks obtained in the CLAT. Please note that higher the marks obtained more the chances to get the law college shown as first preference in the application form.

# Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by Chanakya National Law University, Patna in association with 16 National Law Universities in order to make admission for the 1100 seats of undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated law courses.

# Required educational qualification:

* Must be 10+2 or intermediate or equivalent in any stream from recognised board with minimum 45% marks for General category candidate and 40% marks for reserved category candidate for the undergraduate courses.
* Must be LLB or have completed 5 year Integrated LLB degree with minimum 55% marks by General category candidate and 40% marks by reserved category for the postgraduate courses.

# Required minimum age (as on 01.07.2016) for CLAT for undergraduate courses is as follows:

* Must be below the age of 20 years for the General category candidate.
* Must be below the age of 22 years for the reserved category candidate.
* Must be below the age of 22 years for the physically handicapped candidate.
* There is no any upper age limit for postgraduate level courses.

# Important details regarding written examination of CLAT for UNDERGRADUATE COURSES:

* All the questions are of objective type with multiple choices.
* There will total 200 questions carrying total 200 marks.
* Provision of negative marking @ 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
* The duration of the examination will be 2 hours and there will be MCQ type.

# Distribution of marks in written examination for UNDERGRADUATE COURSES:

* English language (40 questions carrying 40 marks)
* General Knowledge and General studies (50 questions carrying 50 marks)
* Reasoning Ability (40 questions carrying 40 marks)
* Legal Aptitude (50 questions carrying 50 marks)
* Quantitative Aptitude (20 questions carrying 20 marks)

# Important details regarding written examination of CLAT for POSTGRADUATE COURSES:

* All the questions are of objective type with multiple choices.
* There will total 150 questions carrying total 150 marks.
* Provision of negative marking @ 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.
* The duration of the examination will be 2 hours and there will be MCQ type.

* Constitutional Law (50 questions carrying 50 marks)

CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test and it is conducted by one of 17 NLU's of India.

The examination is conducted for admission of candidates in only the National Law university of India.

So, if you are interested in getting admission to other university or law colleges you have to appear for the respective entrance examination. For more information about participation university or CLAT examiantion visit at http://www.clat.ac.in.

Yes, to apply for admission in National Law School, you have to appear for CLAT examination and that too you should try to score quite well as admission in National Law School is not an easy nut to crack.
