yes, pharmacy graduates are eligible to write CSIR-NET exams in field of life sciences or in organic chemistry and if you are selected in the exam you are eligible for JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP(JRF) and you can pursue your ph.D work in prestigious institutions like INDIAN INSTITUTE OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY(IICT) AND INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGY(IIMB) ETC..

Dear Shanila,

Sorry to say but you are not eligible for the NET Exam even if you have a Bachelor`s Degree in Pharmacy and currently pursuing Master`s Degree in Pharmacology.

This is because the minimum educational qualification required for the NET exam is Post Graduation in any stream with a minimum of 55% marks from any UGC recognized university.

The Full Form of NET is National Eligibility Test. As the name suggests , this test is conduced on national level by the University Grants Commission twice every year.

The National Eligibility Test is conducted in the months of June and December.

The University Grants Commission conducts this test for the selection of candidates for the below mentioned posts :

1) College Lectureship

2) Junior Research Fellowship

The Essential requisites for the National Eligibility Test :

>> The candidate must have completed Post Graduation in any discipline from any recognized university.

>> The candidate must have completed Post Graduation with a minimum of 55% marks.

>> The candidates in final year of Post Graduation can also apply.

>> The candidate should have no pending backlogs.

>> There is no age limit for the post of Lecturership.

>> The age of the candidate for JRF post must be in between 20-28 years.

>> OBC Candidates get a relaxation of 3 years.

>> SC/ST Candidates get 5 years age relaxation.

>> SC/ST Candidates also get 5% marks relaxation.

>> The candidate must be an Indian.

>> Both Male and Female Candidates can apply.

This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. Hope the information will help you to the extent you want.

Dear There,

You are not eligible to apply for NET exams as a Graduate but as you say you are pursuing MSc Pharmacology in a reputed UK university and would like to appear for CSIR-NET exams next year then you will be eligible to apply for the examination because at the time of apply you satisfy the educational qualification needed.

The details for NET examination is as follows:

NET examination is conducted by the UGC twice every year in the months of June and December.

NET Examination is conducted for recruitment on the posts of :

a) Lecturer

b) Junior Research Fellowship

The educational qualification and other eligibility for Lecturer and Junior Research Fellowship are same but the age eligibility is different.

The educational qualification and other eligibility are:

a) Candidates cleared Post Graduation or pursuing in the final year can apply for the examination.

b) Candidates must achieve at least 55% marks to be eligible to apply.

c) Candidates of SC/ST Category with 50% marks in Post Graduation can apply.

d) Citizenship – Indian

The age eligibility is as follows:

Lecturers – No Age Limit

JRF - 20-28 years

OBC candidates have been granted 3 years relaxation in upper age limit whereas SC/ST have been granted 5 years of relaxation.

This is all I know.

Thanks.

YES!! Pharmacy graduates are eligible to appear in CSIR NET.

There are some other factors also which fill fulfil the whole eligibility criteria.
