Re: Baby born to INDIAN'S in USA will be called NRI or INDIAN?
The baby born to an Indian family in the USA is considered an Indian citizen by virtue of birth to Indian parents. According to the Indian Citizenship Act of 1955, a person born outside of India to Indian parents is considered an Indian citizen by descent.
However, the term "NRI" (Non-Residential Indian) is used to refer to Indian citizens who live outside of India for an extended period of time for work, study or other reasons. So, in this case, the baby could be considered an NRI in India. It's worth noting that Indian citizens, including NRIs, are entitled to certain rights and benefits in India, such as the right to vote in Indian elections and access to education and healthcare services. However, they may also be subject to certain responsibilities and restrictions, such as tax obligations and limitations on property ownership in India. |
