Eligibility to apply for GMAT to study MBA in St. John's University for BCom(Accountancy) student?

Hi Sir, Can I apply for GMAT test? I am studying in BCom with Accountancy and my wish is to study MBA in St.John's University. So, GMAT is the way for me? I want to know my eligibility and what is GMAT actually?
