Madhusudan Law College, Cuttack
Madhusudan Law College shortly called as M.S. Law College was actually established in the name of Ravenshaw Collegiate School with diploma courses in law in the year 1869. Ravenshaw College introduced bachelor of law course in the year 1881 under the affiliation of Calcutta University. In honor of the contribution made by Madhusudan Das as a part-time lecturer in the development of the college, the college was named after him. After the establishment of Utkal University, the law course offered by the college was brought under the jurisdiction of this university.
Courses offered:
Madhusudan Law College is offering both UG and PG course in law in addition to the five-year integrated Bachelor of Arts and law course.
Intake capacity of the college:
For each of the courses offered by Madhusudan Law College, its intake capacity is given below:
• Three-year LLB - 240 students per year
• Five-year Integrated B.A & LLB (honors)– 50 students
• LLM – 50 students
College Library:
Madhusudan Law College includes a richest library pertaining to law and it has a collection of over 30,000 books and journals on different branches of law. The management of the college is constantly updating the library with the help of grants received from the University Grants Commission.
College Hostel:
Madhusudan Law College also includes a hostel with 50 rooms with the facility to accommodate 100 male students. The hostel is provided with a reading room, which has a collection of daily newspapers and magazines and there is also a common room in the hostel with television and facility to play indoor games.
Social Service Guild at the College:
A social service guild is functioning in Madhusudan Law College, students interested in social service are encouraged to take part in the guild and this was set up with the objective of rendering social service by way of community service.
