Nirmala College for Women was established in 1948 and is managed by the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Presentation of Mary (FSPM). The affiliation of this college was with Madras University till 1981 and further affiliation is with Bharathiyar University. This college aims to impart young women quality education along with life skills and personal skills to face the society.

Facilities offered:

The college holds a big library measuring around 20,000 square feet holding an overwhelming collection of 52,000 books, 200 journals. The entire library is fully computerized and students can access the books using bar coding technology. The college holds 60 spacious well lit classrooms and 10 independent laboratories for students. The hostel is situated nearby the campus and holds a Cathedral.

Placement Cell:

The college has a placement cell which motivates the students towards job opportunities. The cell organizes orientation programs conducted by companies and group discussion to boost the personality development of the students. The main aim of the placement division is to inculcate the required skills like communicative skills and aptitude and attitude. Regular computer courses are conducted to improve the computer operation skills. They also conduct Mock interview sessions for boosting confidence and prepare them for the job environment. Companies like Wipro, HCL, HSBC, Aditya Birla, TCL, Google, Sutherland technologies, Hewart Packard, IBM and Tata consultancies visit the college campus for conducting campus interview.
