Hospital profile: Govt. Medical College and Hospital is affiliated to Punjab University and is recognized by the Medical Council of India. The hospital has a good infrastructure and the total bed strength is 631. It has some of the finest doctors and great facilities for the patients and the college also has good facilities for the students.  

Job profile: The senior residents will be required to work in various departments such as ENT, dentistry, pediatrics, general medicine etc. They will be required to give medical attention to the patients and prepare regular reports and also support their senior doctors.

Eligibility: A candidate should be 33 years or below in age. However, relaxation can be claimed as per the rules.

Educational Qualifications: A candidate must have a post graduate degree/diploma (MD/M.Ch/MS/MDS/DNB/DN) in the concerned specialty and a candidate must be registered either with the Indian Medical Council or the State Medical Council. All the qualifications must be recognized.

No. of posts: There are 40 posts in total which include 3 posts for SC, 18 posts for OBC and 19 posts for GEN.

Pay scale: The residents will be given a pay of Rs10940 per month in the first year and will get an increment after the first year.

Selection process: The candidates will have to appear for an interview. They will also be selected on the basis of their qualifications. The interview will be held on 11th November 2009.
