If you are aspiring to become a graduate of any medical course, there is no better university than Dr. M.G.R medical university. This is a university that offers a wide range of courses in medicine. Dental courses are offered by the university. Students of Bachelor of dental surgery, during the 3rd year of the course have to study general medicine and have to answer its papers at the end of the third year.

Information on the subject and question paper pattern

The subject ‘General medicine’ is not a pure dentistry subject. It is a subject concerned with the whole human body and is mainly about the various diseases that affect the human body. This is not a very important subject for dental students but have to be understood properly.

The paper consists of two sections A, B and C. The paper is totally descriptive and there are no objective questions in the paper. Section A consists of two questions and both the questions are long answer type questions. Section B consists of one question and the question is sub divided into eight questions. All the sub questions in this section are short answer type questions.

Allotment of marks and duration of paper

The paper is for a total of 100 marks. Section A consists of two essay questions of 15 marks each and the total mark of this section is 30. Section B consists of 8 short answer questions and each carries five marks. Thus the total mark of this section is 40. Section B is for a total of 30 marks. The duration of the paper is three hours. It is advised that the candidates complete answering sections A and B in two and a half hours. Half an hour has to be spent on answering section C.
