DR. M.G.R Medical University is one of the best medical universities in the country and is the best place to pursue Bachelor of dental surgery. During the 3rd year of the course, the candidates have to study Oral Pathology and Oral Microbiology. This is one of the most important papers for B.D.S students and they need to master this subject properly.

Information on the subject and pattern of paper

This subject is about oral diseases and the microbes causing the disease. The subject also focuses on curing the diseases and ways of preventing them. The paper consists of two sections A and B. Part A consists of three questions which are further divided into sub questions. Question 1 in part A consists of one sub question. Questions 2 and 3 consist of two and five questions respectively. Section B also consists of three questions. The number of sub questions in section B is similar to that of section A. The question paper consists of essay question, short answer type and very short answer type questions. The question will be regarding definitions and classifications of various diseases. There are no diagrammatic questions in the paper.

Marking scheme and duration of the paper

The paper is marked out of 70. Sections A and B contribute 35 mark each.  Essay type questions carry 15 marks, short answer questions carry 5 marks and very short answers carry two marks. The duration of the paper is three hours and the candidates have to answer the all the questions within this time. The candidates need to have good command on the subject in order to finish answering in the right time. Before the start of the exam, the candidates will be allotted 15 minutes for reading the question paper.
