AURCET Human Genetics Entrance Test 2012
Andhra University is one among the oldest universities in India. The University focuses on imparting good quality education to all the sections of the society. AURCET is the entrance test conducted by the Andhra University to select eligible candidates to M.Phil and Ph.D courses in different streams.
Structure of AURCET Human Genetics Entrance Test
The entrance test includes two papers, each with multiple choice questions. The first paper comprises of 50 questions which has to be completed in 45 minutes. The second paper includes 100 questions with duration of 90 minutes.

- Medical Genetics: Scope of Medical Genetics, Non-random Matings, Measures of Central Tendency
- Population Genetics and Biostatistics: Mendelian Population, Hardy-Weinberg Principle, Factors that Change Allelic Frequencies, Measures of Dispersion
- Genetic Screening and Counseling: Scope of Genetic Screening, Autosomal Dominant and Recessive Disorders, Patterns of Inheritance and Risk Assessment
- Cytogenetics: History and Development of Human Cytogenetics, The Origin and Transmission of Chromosomal Abnormalities
- Biochemical and Immunogenetics: Enzyme and Protein Polymorphisms, Metabolic Disorders, Immunodeficiency Diseases

Eligibility Criteria
For appearing in AURCET Human Genetics entrance test, the applicants are required to complete M.Sc in Human Genetics or Molecular Genetics or any other related subject. The students must have achieved at least 55% marks in the qualifying exam. The SC/ST candidates require only a minimum of 50% marks in the post graduation. The candidates are also required to score an equivalent CGPA in the respective subject.
How to Apply?
The applicant has to download the application form and the information brochure from the official website www.andhrauniversity.info/doa. The applicants are also required to pay an application fee of Rs.500/- through DD. The demand draft has to be taken from any nationalized bank. The DD must be payable at Visakhapatnam and taken in favor of “Director, Directorate of Admissions, Andhra University”. The candidates should send the DD and the completed application to “The Director, Directorate of Admissions, Andhra University, Vijayanagar Palace, Pedawaltair, Visakhapatnam-530017” by registered post. The post should reach the address on or before the final date.
How to fill the Form?
Start filling the form only after reading the information brochure thoroughly. The applicant should enter details in each and every column correctly. The name and date of birth entered in the application form must be the same as that in the mark sheet. The students should not leave any column blank. Those application forms will be rejected by the University. Put the signatures in the appropriate spaces. The applicant has to enclose the concerned documents along with the completed application. The applicant should tag the documents carefully.

Study Plan
The prime objective of an effective study plan must be to create an efficient time table for studying. Make sure that the entire portions are included in the plan. The syllabus should be divided into sub parts. The candidate should study in a quiet place. While learning, briefly note down the key points. The students should give priority to tough topics. Those subjects should be devoted more time. The students should take short breaks after studying each subject. Reference books will help the students to study in detail. The last week must be used for revising the topics.
