College of Agriculture at Bhubaneswar, which is a constituent unit of the Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology came into existence in the year 1954 and the institute was previously called as Utkal Krushi Mahavidyalaya. The institute began its operations in a primary school building at Bhubaneswar. The institute was initially, functioning with only 32 UG students on roll for the B. Sc Agriculture Programme, subsequently the intake capacity of the institution went up to 256 students for meeting the technical manpower requirement in the field of Agriculture in Orissa.

College of Agriculture at Bhubaneswar offers the following courses:

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture

Bachelor of Science in Forestry

Master of Science in Agriculture

Ph. D in Agriculture

Selection Procedure:

UG Courses: For admission to the UG courses offered by the College of Agriculture is done based on the merit secured by candidates in a Common Entrance Test conducted for admission to the constituent units of the Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology. Admission will be purely on the merit secured in the entrance examination and additional weightage will be given to candidates with extracurricular certifications like Sports, NSS and NCC.

PG Course: Admission of students to the PG and Doctoral courses offered by the college is done based on the merit secured by the candidates in the Common Entrance Test. The final list of selected candidates will be prepared taking into both educational (higher secondary and B. Sc agriculture) marks and merit in the entrance examination. Merit list for Ph. D course is issued department-wise.

Research achievements of the college:

In addition to regular teaching programmes, the college also takes up research work in fields like crop improvement, crop protection and crop production. Apart from this, 17 adhoc projects and 10 national agricultural technology projects are also operating in the college.

Facilities at the college:

Each of the UG and PG departments functioning under the college are provided with lab facilities that is needed for offering the best practical education to the students. The UG lab in the college has a capacity to accommodate 32 students at a time.
