The role of a drug controller is inevitable in the health related fields. They ensure quality and safety of drugs and monitor the collection and supply of these drugs at controlled prices. There are many colleges and universities providing undergraduate, post graduate and even research level courses for students who wish to take up a career as drugs controller. Many students are attracted towards this profession due to the pay structure and job satisfaction they get from this profession. Those who wish to pursue a career in this field can take up their job in Central Drugs Standard Control Organizations (CDSCO), health departments of various institutes, National Institute on Drug Abuse, Narcotics department etc.

Qualifying Exam

Candidates need to pass the test conducted by the UPSC or PSC for building up a career in the government sector. Private sector companies also conduct their own examination to select the most appropriate candidate as drug controller. The role as a drug controller brings in reputation among others.

Who is eligible to apply?

The candidates need to be graduates in the respective field. Masters degree in Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry or Pharmacy is a must. The candidates with experience as drug control or related field are preferred. Those with research background have better job opportunities and their pay is relatively high as compared to others in the same field.
