The West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) (State Agency) conducts a State Level Eligibility Test for Lectureship in Universities and Colleges of West Bengal and Tripura (Accredited by University Grants Commission).
Subjects: English, Bengali, Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu, Commerce, Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Education, Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Sociology, Geography, Psychology, Mass Communication & Journalism. West Bengal State Eligibility Test (SET) Eligibility Eligibility: Candidates who have obtained Master's Degree in any of these subjects with at least 55% marks (without any type of grace/ rounding off) or an equivalent grade preceded by at least a 2nd class 3-year Hons. Degree in the relevant subject or an equivalent degree from a Foreign University are eligible for SLET. (i) For subjects of Education, Psychology and Mass Communication and Journalism, at least a second class 3-year Honours degree in any subject along with a 2-year Master's degree in the concerned subject is required. (ii) For Physical Sciences\ candidates having Honours and Master's degree in Physics, Computer Science and Electronic Science are eligible. Candidates with MCA degree instead of Master's degree are al o eligible provided they have Honours degree ill either of the above *noted subjects. (iii) For Mathematical Sciences, candidates having Honours and Master's degree in Pure or Applied Mathematics or Statistics are eligible. (iv) For Life Sciences, candidates having Honours and Master's degree in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology and Home Sciences are eligible. (v) For Earth Sciences, candidates having Honours and Master's degree in Geology and Anthropology are eligible. For SC/ST and all other categories of disabled persons including blind and low vision disabled candidates, those who have secured at least 50% marks (Without any type of grace or rounding off) in Master's Degree are eligible, provided they possess 2nd class 3-year Hons. Degree in the relevant subject. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis or obtained M.Phil. Degree by the specified date or have already been qualified in the JRF/Lectureship Test conducted by UGC-CSIR (NET)/WBCSC (SLET) are exempted from appearing at this SLET provided they possess 55% marks at PG level. Serving Teachers in Colleges/Universities against substantive posts cannot appear at the SLET. Age: There is no upper age limit for appearing at the SLET. The Test: The design of the SLET is similar to that of UGC-CSIR NET Questions are set in English only and candidates have the option to answer in English or in Bengali except for languages. The Test Centres are Kolkata, Burdwan Univ., Vidyasagar Univ., Baharampur KN. College (KU.), North Bengal University and MBB College (Agartala*Tripura) depending upon the number of applicants.
