NDA (National Defense Academy) comprise of all the major defense forces training establishment for +2 qualified candidates:

• Air Force
• Naval
• Army wing

In order to be eligible for the Air Force and Naval wing, candidate must have studied Maths and Physics in the +2 level of exam.
Candidates willing to apply for Indian Army will be considered eligible even if they have not studied physics and mathematics in the +2 level. Candidate belonging to arts or commerce or science background, can all apply for Army wing of NDA. The entrance Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission [UPSC]. The minimum age to apply for the exam is sixteen and a half years, whereas the maximum age limit is nineteen years.

Sorry to say that you are not eligible for NDA exam because you have completed 12th standard from arts department.

Educational Qualification-

You must have completed 12th standard with physics, maths, chemistry.
You must have secure 60% marks in 12th.

Age criteria-

The age should be in between 16.5-19years.
There is no age relaxation for SC/ST , OBC criteria.

NOTE:-

>>Only unmarried male candidate are eligible for NDA exam.

>>You must have the citizenship of India.

NDA stands for National Defence Academy and this examination is Conducted by UPSC, Twice in a year and to apply for this examination you have to complete your 12Th examination from a recognised Board, Final appearing candidates are also apply for NDA Examination.

For this Year Both NDA Examination was already completed and Result was also Declared and Availiable in the official website.

This Examination is Conducted by UPSC for the Recruitment of these 3 Wings:

>> Army Wings
>> Naval Wings
>> Air Force Wings

If you have completed your 12Th examination from Arts Stream, then you are eligible to apply for only Army wings of NDA.

Only Unmarried Male candidates Between the age of 16.5 to 19 Years are Eligible.

You must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease and minimum acceptable height is 157.5 cms.

So, If you have satisfied the Given Eligiblity, then you are eligible to apply for NDA Examination. The Notification of NDA(I) 2012 Examination Notification will be Published Today in the Official website of UPSC.

Eligible candidates may fill the NDA Application form Online By visit the official website, The last date of apply for NDA Examination 30/Jan/2012.

Examination will be held on 15/April/2012.

NDA - National Defense Academy.

It is an entrance exam conducted by the UPSC every year to select candidates for the selection of the various officers in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.


The Basic Eligibility Criteria's to appear in the NDA are :


1. You should be a minimum 12th pass in Science stream from a recognized school or state board with a minimum 50% aggregate.

2. Your age should be between 16.5 and 19 years.

3. You should be physically fit.

4. Physics and Maths are compulsory subjects if you are applying for the Indian Navy or IAF.


So in reply to your query, I am really sorry but an arts student cannot sit for the NDA 1 exam as per the eligibility criteria.

However you may complete your graduation in any stream and then you may sit for the NDA 2 Non Technical exam.

Yes, an Arts stream student is eligible for NDA. He can apply for Indian Army of NDA.

UPSC conducts entrance exam for NDA whch is held twice every year as NDA-I and NDA-II for entry in to Indian Army, Navy and Air Force wing of NDA.

Any unmarried Indian male candidate having either appear for the final 12th exam or pass in any stream from a recognised Board within the age group of 16.5 to 19 years with good Physical Fitness, is eligible to apply for NDA.

The aspiring candidate has to under go through selection process of written exam followed by personal interview along with Physical Fitness and Medical Test.

Arts student can apply for Indian Army of NDA.
