this is shalinigoud pursuing b.tech 3-1 and i need suggestion that when to take GATE coaching ,it is well to take in 3-1 or after 3-2.it is possible to manage the both GATE and present class work if i take now.

You have raised a very good question.
In fact,this question should arise in minds of the students who wants to crack GATE exam.

It is really difficult to manage properly both the present class work and serious GATE coaching.

But,to be true,it is the time to kick off your preparation from now because the syllabus is too vast and competition is very tough.

May be, you can't give full-fledged start to GATE preparation but you go through the question techniques and try to solve 10-12 questions at least per day.

And see how much time it takes to answer one question.

From the beginning of 4th year,you must start the preparation seriously giving much time to it.

I think this can help you in your future preparation and don't worry as everything will go fine because you are keen to give the exam.

see you can appear for GATE in your final or pre-final year of b.tech.it obviously becomes a bit hectic to cope up with both the things.it is therefore suggested that you decide through your ability as you know yourself the most.

yes its good to start frm now as if u get selected been in 3rd year then also u can apply fr gate as score is valid for 2 years

Well, dear I think starting preparetion for GATE from the very begining is a Good option.

But it has also been noted that students with good record in the B.Tech/B.E. find GATE easier to crack as compared to Average students, as also because major portion is of B.Tech, so as good as you will be in your B.Tech easier you will find to crack GATE with flying colours.

So, better option is to start preparing from the 3-1. You wont find much difficulty in handling both, because the Methodology that are opted for B.Tech appearing students will not let you to face so much difficulty.

during the third year its better to concentrate in your studies to get good marks and to improve ur percentile....
In final year u may have ample time to concentrate in GATE coaching and you may even practice for TANCET...
DURING THE PROJECT , there is more n more time to concentrate on these Entrance exams

That depends upon person and does vary among them .

If you have been very comfortable with your academics till now and very confident that you will be able to spend atleast 3-5 hrs. a day for coaching than it will be good to go for coaching in your 3rd year as it will provide you a very good foundation without wasting your one precious year .

I think that opting for coaching for GATE will be a better choice after having a drop of one year as the test is very tough and the competition and standard has been increasing consecutively so it will be better to focus completely on it rather than diluting your mind in BTech as well as GATE preparation .

But i think that there is no need to prepare too much to appear for GATE exam as very much depends upon your skills obtained during BTech .

The GATE coaching can be opt from distance learning as well for which the best name is Brilliant Tutorials , Chennai .

If you are very determined to appear for the GATE exam, then i think from third year onwards it is the best time. GATE has a very vast and somewhat a very difficult syllabus which requires a lot of practice and perfection.
Also one thing that is to be kept in mind is that though you will be preparing for GATE, dont loose focus on the current Btech course, otherwise everything will go haywire, even your GATE preperations, as you know you need to be all clear for the GATE exam.
It will be a bit difficult, but hardwork and focus are the keys to success.
You maybe interested to join an institute for the preparation, which would be nice idea.

hello shalini,

i would suggest you to prepare for GATE exam parallely to your B.tech studies,it will be most productive method.

because the syllabus of GATE is all the same what you study in your B.tech course,so better option is to buy a good book and try solving questions everyday right from the beginning.

and you can kick-off a full-fledged preparation from the starting of your final year.

hi... ya its very difficult to manage both the regular studies eith that of the gate coaching ..so its better thet you slowly start preparing from 3rd year by yourself ..when ever you get time you can solve the previous year papers .. and from 4th year prepare seriously .. and if required you can take some coachinh after your b,tech till your results of b.tech come.. good luck..

bothare good ,but the most essential is the way you see the standard of work ,you can do after becoming engg.
as,because an engg.,finds m.tech synonym with b.tech.

bcz upto this sem maximum syllabus of GATE is covered.

gate exam can be appeared in 3rd year or in 4th year.the gate scores have a validity of 2years. to get throuh the gate exam is a tedious job.you will have to work very hard everyday.the present class and gate coaching to go hand in hand is a difficult job.but if you are determined nothing is impossible.all the best

It is always better to start your preparation atleast 6 month before GATE exam. It is not much hard exam , only steady study is enough for it.
Since you are in engineering college, you can do correspondence course provided by various coaching institutes like Made easy, Brilliant tutorial etc. They also provide test series. You can join it for each topics test paper. Study your 3rd year to have a view of GATE since most of the subjects are related to 3rd year in GATE like analog/digital communication, digital electronics etc..

It depends on the strengths you are having.

If you are so good at your concepts in B.tech, you will require very less time to prepare for the exam. And it will also depends upon the ability of you to digest the concepts at the time of preparing the exam in the sense how fast you can learn the various concepts and remember them.

In the case of GATE other than preparation what is being important is continuous practice. From time to time, you try to solve various previous year question papers and sample papers. The more the practice you do, the more benefits it is going to give you at the time of exam.

So, if you are good at the above aspects, even if you start your preparation in the 4th year too, you can crack the GATE exam well.

u must give the gate exam in final yr of ur btech.
because they doesnt ask question of 4th year.

and i assure you that there are no 4th year questions
i assure you myself appeared for gate 2011 in 3rd year and gained confidence to appear back in next year

but it is better to start preparation by 3-1 itself

If you are interested to attend the gate exam and taking it seriously, you can start it's preparation from the first year itself. Because, starting your preparation from first year help you to make your theoretical basics strong.

What happened if we take gate coaching in 3rd year 2nd semester.are we suffer by doing that.
