Now a days there are many books available for gate preparation but from my point of view the book published by GK publication is one of the good book because in this book detailed concept of topics are given with its question and answer and also there are good content for aptitude and english so i will suggest you to go for this particular book.

For GATE you can refer the book of G.K Publishers.
It has solved as well as unsolved question bank, which are very helpful for practice.

For any stream, read your textbks first, & thoroughly.Then you can read any other study materials you like,those will only supplement & improve your preparations, but study materials cannot replace your books.

for gate read the your text books and solve rk kanodia gate book. This book contain excellent problems with full solution. Every problem is model problem for gate.

For GATE first read your text book and then solve books by RK Kanodia on every subject. These books have excellent question with full solutions. Every problem is model problem for GATE. Toppers alywas recommend these books.
