After completing BE/B.Tech in Electronics and Communication the best option for engineering candidates is considered to be Public Sector Undertaking jobs. The best thing about ECE is that almost all PSUs offer jobs to ECE graduates.

Now coming to your question, all the PSUs are considered good and there isn't much to choose from that. So I would refrain from calling some of them as top PSUs. It would depend of which company you want to work for.

Eligibility

1. You must be Indian citizen.

2. B.Tech degree from a recognized university.

3. At least 60 percent marks in Engineering graduation.

4. Age limit is 30 years.

5. There is relaxation for reserve category in age limit.

To get a job in any Public Sector Undertaking, you are requried to appear for entrance exam. The entrance exam consists two parts:

1) Written Test

2) Interview

However some Public Sector Undertakings have replaced the written test with the GATE score. Instead of appearing for written test, the candidate is required to show his/her GATE score and based on that, the job would be given.

On the other hand remaining Public Sector Undertakings still conducts the written test however if the GATE score of a candidate is exceptional, he would be exempted from appearing from written test and would be called for direct interview.

Now you have asked for exam pattern and syllabus for the PSU exam. It is difficult to provide that since each PSU conducts the entrance exam separately therefore the exam pattern and syllabus changes with each company. However still some pattern are followed by every company.

Exam Pattern

The PSU exam consists of two stage:

1) Written Exam

The written exam is divided into four stages:

i) Technical

ii) Aptitude & Reasoning

iii) English & RC

iv) General Awareness & current affairs

2) Interview

The duration of the interview is maximum of 30 minutes in which the stress is given to technical knowledge of the candidate.

Syllabus

It is important to understand that General study, Reasoning Aptitude and English Syllabus changes with every PSU exam. However the syllabus for technical (ECE) is as following:

1. Materials and Components

2. Physical Electronics, Electron Devices and ICs

3. Signals and Systems

4. Network theory

5. Electromagnetic Theory

6. Electronic Measurements and instrumentation

7. Analog Electronic Circuits

8. Digital Electronic Circuits

9. Control Systems

10. Communication Systems

11. Computer Engineering
