The eligibility criteria to join Indian Air Force is as follows :-

a) Must be a Citizen of India
b) Age limit for IAF Pilots : 19 to 23
c) Educational Qualification :- BSc {Physics/Maths) 3 years or BE 4 years or BSc (General) 3 years with Physics and Maths.

d) Physical Standards for Male IAF Pilots:

• Height: 162.5 cms
• Leg Length: Not less than 99 cms and not more than 128 cms,
• Chest: fully expanded chest should not be less than 82 cms with 5 cms expansion.

e) Physical Standards for Female IAF Pilots:

• Height: 162.5 cms
• Leg Length: Between 99 cms and 120 cms.

Selection is totally based on Written exam, Interview test and Personality test and on merit basis.

After completion of 12th you can join Indian Air Force basically in three ways:-

-NDA
-CDS
-AFCAT

Out of which you can join Indian Air Force after Graduation through CDS and AFCAT.

But just after 12th you can do that through appearing NDA(National Defence Academy) entrance exam conducted by UPSC twice every year as NDA-I and NDA-II.

ELIGIBILITY TO JOIN IAF THROUGH NDA:-

-The candidate must be an unmarried Indian male candidate only as Girls are not eligible for NDA.
-Should have either appear for the final 12th exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects of studies from a recognised Board.
-Should be within the prescribed age of 16.5 to 19 years
-Should have possessed good Physical and Mental health.

The NDA can be applied through on line by paying Rs.50.00 as exam fee for General candidate and no such fees for SC/ST candidate.

The selection is through Written Exam and Personal Interview. Apart from this there is certain prescribed Physical Fitness test and finally Medical Test after which a candidate has been selected for his desired wing.

This year the registration process for NDA-II 2012 has already been completed, if you are interested you can apply for the same through NDA-I 2013 exam which will be held in the month of April 2013.

You can apply for Indian air force through NDA exam which is conducted twice in an year with 66 vacancies for air wing each time.

But you must have completed 12th standard with Physics and mathematics subjects.
Also your age must be between 16.5 and 19 years.

Teeth Conditions -

-The candidate must not be suffering from severe pyorrhoea
-The minimum number of dental points allowed is 14

Ear, Nose and Throat Conditions

The candidate must not be suffering from any disease of the ear, nose and throat
The maximum allowable audiometric loss is +20 db in frequencies between 250Hz and 4000 Hz. For air force and audiometric test will be done

Vision standards for air force

-Those candidates who habitually wear glasses are not eligible

some special standards for Air Force candidates.-

The leg length of the candidate must be 99.00cm – 120.00cm
The maximum allowable Thigh length is 64.00cm
The sitting height of the candidate must be 81.50cm – 96.00cm

To join Air Force after 12th then you can give NDA exam.
This examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission twice a year.
This year it will be conducted on 19, August.
The approximate number of vacancies to be filled on the results of this examination will be 355 (195 for the Army, 39 for Navy, 66 for the Air Force and 55 for Indian Naval Academy)

After giving your class 12 board exam you are only eligible to give the NDA entrance exam.


NDA entrance exam eligibility criteria:-
You should be minimum 12 pass out
age limit-16.5-19 yrs
you should be an unmarried citizen of india

Exam pattern:-
paper i is mathematics of 300 marks
paper ii is the general ability divided into two parts:-
part A is english of 200 marks
part B is general knowledge of 400 marks
so total 900 marks

after completion of 12th you can simply give NDA exam which is entrance exam for Indian army force but unfortunately NDA exam 1 is already got over

After completing your 12t std you have to give the NDA exam to join Air Force. you should have above 60% in 12th std and above 75% in pcm. After cleaing NDA you will be called for SSB and its held for 1 week. they take your interviews, give different challenges and tasks to complete,etc. If you cleared all the exams and interviews there then they will call you for training in Air Force

For joining in Indian Air Force after completing +2 is a good option and for joining in it you need to write the entrance exam for it and the exam which you need to write is the NDA Exam

This exam is being conducted by UPSC and held every year for candidates to join in defence forces of India which includes Indian Air Force in it.

And there are criteria's which are needed to be satisfied in order to apply for the exam and they are:

Since you have already completed 20 years so you cannot apply for the UPSC conducted NDA exams
NDA exams can be given after passing class 12th
But maximum age to apply is 19 years only


Now to join Airforce you have to appear in the UPSC Conducted CDS exams

Eligibilty for the Airforce wing of the CDS exams is

Education:
Graduation Pass with Physics and Mathematics as subjects in class 12th or BE/BTECH

STEPS IN APPLYING
Step-1 Registration and Login
5. Navigate to the website www.careerairforce.nic.in and click the 'Apply Online' button. You will be directed to a 'User Login' page which will contain a 'New Candidate' link which will redirect you to a page wherein basic information would be asked. Please check the details that you have entered thoroughly before proceeding further. Name and Date of Birth should be the same one as mentioned in your Class X/SSLC/Higher Secondary/CBSE certificate/School leaving Certificate.
6. Valid e-mail ID. Your e-mail id is mandatory and will be the sole means of communication hereafter. Therefore, please keep your e-mail active till the completion of the admission procedure. A password shall be generated when you click ‘Submit’, which will be sent to your registered e-mail id. You can register only once with an e-mail id. So, if you have submitted the form wrongly, you will not be able to register again with the same e-mail id.
Step-2 Completing the Application
7. Log In Again. Now, re-visit the 'Apply Online' link and login to your account by entering the login e-mail id as 'User Name' and 'Password' received. On login, create a new password for yourself.
8. Parts 2-4. Proceed to complete Parts 2 and 3 of the Application Form. In Part 4, you would be asked about preference of various Branches of the IAF for which you are likely to be eligible as per the information provided by you. At least One course and three choices of AFCAT Centres are mandatory to proceed with the submission.
9. Part 5. In Part 5, other details like contact address would be sought and appending of the Photograph (mandatory), Finger Print and Signature are to be done. On completion of this stage, the preview of application would be shown before finally submitting the form. Please note that changes in application would NOT be possible after final submission of the application.
10. Successful submission of application would be indicated on status on the left side window through the message 'Application submitted to the Indian Air Force'.
Step-3: Allotment of AFCAT Centers
11. After the last date for receipt of applications, candidates who have successfully submitted their applications would be allotted AFCAT centres automatically as per a pre-determined logic. Candidates would be informed by e-mail about the allotment of centres. Changes in allotted AFCAT centers would not be entertained under any circumstances.
12. Admit Card and ID Card. On receipt of E Mail, login to your account and take a printout of the Admit Card and Identification Card. Affix a recent colour passport size photograph as submitted in the online format and complete the finger print and signature columns (if not done earlier online). Thereafter, obtain attestation by the College Principal/ a Gazetted Officer in both the cards and bring them to the AFCAT centre on the day of the Examination. The Identification Card would be retained at the AFCAT centre whereas the Admit Card would be returned to you. Preserve the Admit Card carefully as you would be required to bring the same to Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) if called for further testing process.
Step-4: Intimation for AFSB Testing
13. After completion of the AFCAT, if you are short listed for further tests, you would receive an email apprising you of the same. You would then be required to log in to your account and select the venue and date of AFSB testing. On the basis of your selection, you would be required to take a print out of the Call Letter and report to the respective AFSB for further testing. You are also advised to read and follow the instructions for reporting at AFSB.
