Govt and private institution offers coures for marchent navy.For admission to these courses,there is entrance exam called AIMNET(all india merchant navy entrance test),bharat shipping limited is the controller of the examination,aiment exam2010 held in dec.
minimum eligibility is 10+2 or equivalent in physics,chemestry,maths. some institution takes admission on the basis of JEE(joint entrance exam) conduction by IIT. |

You need to first of all appear for various entrance exams. Also you need to clear the physical fitness test. Hope you have good vision of 6/6. On clearing that you need to undergo one year of training period.On completion of the course you will be eligible to join any shipping firm.

i m the student of the civil enginnering branch in first year . i do this B.TEc course form the institute $ unversity of ''SRI SIDDHARTA INSTITUTE OF TECKNOWLODGE'' BANGLORE(KARNATKA).please tell me sir that can i done the merchant navy course after the 3 year complte the course of B.TEc, if our markseet as follwing.................... 10th C.B.S.E BOARD = 69.59% (with english,math,hindi,history,science) 12th C.B.S.E BOARD = 60% (with phy,che,math,english,physical education) B.TEc = unknown...................... |

Basic eligibility for merchany navy is 12th (pcm) + entrance test.
Since you have completed your be you are ofcourse eligible for navy. It includes various posts like : Navigating officers marine engineers naval architecture radio officer dockyard apprentices training in shipping management. All the best |

************************************************** *************** *Only 12th is the qualification to join the merchant Navy. *And also only the Unmarried Female and Male candidates are eligible. *The age limit for the candidates is between 16 to 25 years. *Candidates should be physically and mentally strong, fit for sea-services under standard forms. *in the medical exam the candidates eye sight is 6/6 without Glasses, no color Blindness is also important. There are various courses to join after 10th or 12th in both private and government training Institute recognized and approved by Director General of shipping, Ministry shipping. These are Pre-Sea training. Deck cadet STCW course 1 year pre-sea Diploma in Nautical Science HND Nautical Science HND Marine Engineering B.E Marine Engineering B.S. in Nautical Technology 3 year B.Sc Degree in Nautical Science 2-year Marine Engineering course B.tech Naval Architecure and ship Building course 4 year B.tech Marine Engineering. The candidates will be selected by the Joint Entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology. In this they will test candidates knowledge in physics, Chemistry and maths.
