Age limit :
general candidates : 21 to 30 years OBC candidates : 21 to 33 years SC/ST candidates : 21 to 35 years Educational qualification : any degree with 60% marks exam process : main exam and Preliminary exam |

IPS is part of the Civil Services and the exam is conducted by the UPSC to select officers. The current announcement for the batch of 2012, the last date for receiving applications is 5th March and the preliminary exam is scheduled to take place on 20th May.
To be eligible to appear for the exam, a candidate should be between 21 and 30 years as on 1st August. Upper age relaxation is available as follows: SC ST 5 years OBC 3 years J&K domicile between 1980 and 89 5 years Disabled defence and discharged 3 years Ex Service men 5 years |

If you are interested for IPS(INDIAN POLICE SERVICE) then you have to appear and crack the Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC every year.
The Civil Service Exam is conducted through three phases:- CSAT- Civil Service Aptitude Test- Preliminary exam comprises of all objective type questions Civil Service Main Exam comprises of all descriptive type questions from the prescribed syllabus as provided. Personal Interview. The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having Graduation degree within the age of 21 to 30 years of age which the upper age relaxed for SC/ST/PH up to 5 years and up to 3 years for OBC category candidate. The notification for Civil Service exam 2012 has already been announced the registration process has been started, the last date of application through on line is 05.03.2012.
