Eligibility Criteria


Educationl Qualifiction

The candidate should posses a degree of bachelor in any disciplene from a recognised University.

Age limit:

The Age of the candidate shall be between 21 to 37 years with relaxation for reserved categories as per Govt. instructions mentioned below :-


(i) Provided that in the case of Punjab Police Service, a candidate should have attained the minimum age of twenty one years and should not have attained the age of twenty eight years as on 01-01-2012.


(ii) However, in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes of Punjab the age is relaxed upto 5 years as per Punjab Government Instructions including the Punjab Police Service.


(iii) The upper age limit for a Punjab Government / Other State Government/ Central Government employees will be relaxed up to 47 years.



PATTERN OF PCS EXAMINATION



Preliminary Exam

The preliminary competitive examination will consist of two papers of objective type (multiple type questions) and the maximum marks are 300.



NOTE:NO NEGATIVE MARKING



Paper Subject Marks

Paper I General studies 150

Paper II CSAT 150



Main Exam

The Main examination will consist of the compulsory and two optional subjects and the maximum marks are 1000.

paper I English 100



paper II Essay 100

(either in english or punjabi)



paper III Punjabi 100

(in Gurmukhi Script)



paper IV & V General Studies 200

( two paper of 100 each)



paper VI to IX Any two subjects to be 400

selected from the list of the

optional subjects. Each subject

will have two papers.



INTERVIEW 100

Total : 1000



The main examination will consist of written examination and an interview test.

The written examination will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type.

No caniddate shall be eligible to appear in the viva voce test unless he obtain 45%marks in the aggregate of all subject including atleast 33% marks in Punjabi.
