what is GATE exam how it helps in engineering..could u please tell me the details

See GATE is a qualifying test for engineers or technical field people to pursue master degree in engineering. Thus you will be enrolled for the M.Tech course if you pass GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineers. Now you have to decide, whether you want to do M.Tech or not. If you are B.Tech, then B.E. will help you. Else you can do any other master degree. Also there is one more method to get entry in M.Tech courses. You can directly take the forms of M.Tech admission from the university. Fill it up and submit it to the authorities along with your credentials. You will be called for the written examination. If you qualify that, you will be interviewed by teachers. If you qualify that too, then you will be entered in the M.Tech program.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology.
GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven IIT's (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The GATE Score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate.

After completion of B.Tech or end of the final year you are can write GATE exam.......

The main aim of the GATE exam candidates should enter into IITs or NITs or Universities doing the M.TECH...................
