What should be minimum marks in each subjects of Science group for getting admission in BDS?

Sir, I have 42% in Physics, 44% in Chemistry and 47% in Biology. Are this marks enough to get admission in Bachelor of Dental Surgeon? Is there any entrance exam also?

B.D.S. or Bachelor of Dental Surgery is an undergraduate Dentistry course. The duration of Bachelor of Dental Surgery course is 4-5 years. In order to get admission in BDS course candidate must have passed 12th class in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects from a recognized board. The minimum percentage required in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects for Bachelor of Dental Surgery course is 50%. As per my knowledge, you are not eligible to get admission in Bachelor of Dental Surgery course after 42% in Physics, 44% in Chemistry and 47% in Biology.

NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test and same is a national level entrance examination held by CBSE once every year for offering admission in undergraduate medical degree course such as MBBS/BDS across any medical college of India.

--> The minimum eligibility criteria required for appearing in NEET for admission in BDS are as here under :-

* You must hold the citizenship of India.

* Your age must be at least 17 years by the 31st December of that year in which you are going to appear in the same examination while it should not exceed 25 years by the date of entrance examination. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.

* You must have completed your Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects from a recognized board of education. Also, the minimum percentage of marks in PCB group subjects must be at least 50% if you are a general category candidate. Marks relaxation upto 10% is allowed for reserved category candidates.

So, having completed your Class 12th with 42% marks in Physics, 44% marks in Chemistry and 47% marks in Biology i.e; 44.34% in PCB group overall, you are eligible for NEET only if you belong to reserved category as for general category candidates the minimum marks required in PCB group is 50%.

For more details regarding NEET eligibility, you can refer to the link www.cbseneet.nic.in.
