Hello Sir, I am studying in class 12th and after completing it I want to continue my studies in IIT, so I want to know the percentage required in class 12th to get admission in IIT? Please answer as soon as possible.

IIT stands for Indian Institute of Technology which are known to be the best technical Institutes of India for undergraduate technical courses and higher studies.

--> To get admission in the IITs for undegraduate technical courses you need to qualify both stages of JEE ( JEE Main and JEE Advanced ) with good percentage of marks in the Class 12th board examination so that you lie within the top 20 percentile candidates of your respective board of examination. Also in case you fail to lie among the top 20 percentile candidate of your respective board but secure 75% aggregate in your board examination then also you are eligible for appearing in admission in IIT if you have managed to qualify both the states of JEE.

--> One thing I would like to make you know that to be eligible for JEE you need to have completed your Class 12th with PCM group with at least 45% aggregate from a recognized board of examination. Also your age lying must lie under 25 years by the 31st December of that year in which you are going to appear in the same examination.

There is no fixed percentage to appear for the IIT examination i.e JEE Advanced.

The required criteria to appear for the JEE 2nd stage is that the candidate must be among the top 20 percentile scorer of the respective board. The candidate must have qualified in the Main examination.

For the CBSE candidates it is about 75% in 2016 examination. So,

The required minimum percentage in 12th board examination to appear for Advanced examination varies with different board.

So, it is not possible to give you the list for all the board.

But the common criteria is candidate must have scored the aggregate which is in the list of 20 percentile score.

So, if you are in the top 20 percentile and qualified in Main examination you are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced and after qualifying in it eligible for admission in IIT.

There is no fix marks for admission in IIT. You must have a good academic record in PCM stream of 12th standard to have good chance of admission. 40% weightage is given to class 12th marks.

Rest 60% is JEE main and advanced. Hence, you also need excellent marks in entrance exam too for admission.

To get admission in IIT, you should have to appear, qualify and secure good rank in JEE Main and Advance examination. To be eligible to appear in JEE Main examination, you should have completed 12th standard or an equivalent examination with PCM stream from a recognised board.

If you appear, qualify and secure top 1,50,000 rank in JEE Main examination, you are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced examination. You need to have minimum 75% (70% for SC/ST) aggregate marks in your 12th standard or you must be in top 20 percentile of high scorers of 12th standard board examinations. If you qualify and secure good rank in JEE Advanced examination then, you can get admission in IIT.

If you wish to give the entrance exam to get the admission in IITs then must score 60% or above in class 12th and in PCM. Prepare yourself very well from now only.

In order to get admission in IIT at first you have to appear for the JEE main entrance examination. The minimum qualification to appear for this examination is 12th from a recognized board. You have to score minimum 75% marks in your 12th examination to be eligible for JEE examination. For the reserved category candidates (SC/ST) it is 65% in 12th. So, if you score high in the JEE entrance examination then you will be eligible to get admission in IIT colleges.

You should try to score as well as possible but should have scored a minimum of 60% in aggregate and should score really well in your IIT(JEE) entrance examination. You should keep in mind that the cut-off is really high for admission in the above mentioned Institute, so you should try and score really well in your entrance examination.
