Content of the course:

In the Bachelor of Fashion Technology course offered by the National Institute of Fashion Technology, the first year of the course is geared to make students aware of the processes, concepts and theories and to build a strong foundation in technology, management and design for fashion industry. The second year of the course offers understanding on basic skills to understand construction of garments, production planning, software pertaining to apparel industry, statistical tools, manufacturing process and machinery and fabric properties. At the end of the second year, students are taken to textile industry for completion of internship programme.

In the third year of the course, candidates will be able to get a comprehensive understanding of IT applications, supply chain, skills for construction of specialized garments, management of trade, skills for production, planning and control and processing techniques. In this year, which includes fifth and sixth semester, students will have to undertake cluster internship at the end of fifth semester and appareal industry internship at the end of sixth semester. In the final and the fourth year of the course, candidates are taught to handle subjects pertaining to decision-making and they are offered an opportunity to choose from a number of electives including ergonomics, project management, e-commerce, advanced Java, etc…
