Bishnupur District is called as the land of dancing deer and it is one among the different districts in the state of Manipur. The district was given this name from the Vishnu temple located in the Lamangdong and the town of Bishnupur is the administrative headquarters of the district and other major towns in the district are Kumbi, Moriang and Nambol.
