Junior Research Fellowship, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research
Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research is a reactor research centre set up at Kalpakkam, India. The centre was established in the year 1971 under the Department of Atomic Energy. The centre gots its present name i.e. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research in the year 1985. The centre is a renowned nuclear power plant aiding in meeting a percentage of the electricity demands in the city. Dr. S. C. Chetal is the director of the centre. FBTR (fast breeder) and KAMINI (kalpakkam mini) are the two reactors present at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research.
Job Profile:
Applications are invited from interested candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships of the Department of Atomic Energy tenable at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research. The area of Research Projects are Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Metallurgy or Materials Science. The qualifying degrees for the specified research projects should in the disciplines of Physics or Chemsitry or Computer Science, Mettalurgy Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences and Electronics & Communication Engineering.
Eligibility:
Candidates must be an Indian National. Candidates should have age less than the prescribed maximum age limit i.e. 28 years as on 1 July 2012. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribes categories will get relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit. Physically Handicapped candidates will also get relaxation of 10 years in the upper age limit. Minimum 3 years relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to the Other Backward Class candidates.
Educational Qualification:
Interested candidates must have completed M.Sc. degree in Physics or Material Sciences or Chemistry of Atmospheric Scinces with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. Candidates with D.E. or B.Tech or BS or B.Sc degree in CSE/ or ME or CE or ME or E&IE, ECE, EEE with minimum 60% marks in aggregate are also eligible to apply. Candidates possessing qualification less than the prescribed one, will not be considered eligible for applying for the Junior Research Fellowships.
No. of posts: Total 50 posts are available.
Pay Scale: Selected candidates will be paid the stipend of Rs. 16000 per month initially for period of two years. However, the stipend will be raised once candidates get into the Senior Research Fellowship.
Selection Process:
Only eligible candidates will be called for Written Test on the basis of the initial screening of their application forms. Qualified candidates of the written test will then be called to appear for the personal interview test on specified date. The written test and the personal interview test may be conducted at Chennai only.
