Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of journalism and Communication is called as Makhanlal Chaturvedi Rashtriya Patrakarita Vishwavidyalaya in the local language and it is a established in the year 1991. The university was formally inaugurated by the then Vice President of India Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma on the 16th of January 1991 and the university was given this name in honor of the renowned Journalist, Poet and Freedom Fighter of the nation. The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and Association of Indian Universities. It is not a conventional university with restricted jurisdiction and its jurisdiction is spread over the whole nation.
