UGC - BSR Junior Research Fellowship - Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (RIASM), University of Madras
Ramanujan Institute of Mathematics was established 26 January 1950 at Vepery in Madras by Dr. Rm. Alagappa Chettiar. The institute works under the control of the Asoka Charitable Trust, Karaikudi. The institute was named after the mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan. The institute was formally inaugurated on 15 April 1950 by Dr.A.Lakshmanaswamy Mudaliar, Vice Chancellor of University of Madras.
When the institute was stared Dr. T.Vijayaraghavan, student of G.H.Hardy was the Director of the Institute. The Department of Mathematics and the Ramanujan Institute of Mathematics functioned as two independent institutes under the University of Madras from 1957 to 1966.
The Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (RIASM) started its activities from the year 1967. The institute offers excellent facilities such as well equipped library, modern teaching aids, and Computational Mathematics laboratory. Few of the teaching aids used in the institute are multimedia projectors, interactive white board, digital slide presenter, and VHS recorder.

Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (RIASM), University of Madras invites application from eligible candidates for the post of UGC - BSR Research Fellowship to carry out Ph.D. research work in Mathematics.
No. of posts: 5
Pay Scale: Rs.10,000 per month (to be increased to Rs. 14,000 per month with a contingency grant of Rs.12,000 per annum.
Eligibility:
Educational Qualification and experience – The candidates with post graduate qualification must have registered for PhD programme in Mathematics at the Ramanujan Institute in order to apply for the UGC - BSR Research Fellowship scheme.
Selection Process:
The candidates are selected for the post on the basis of merit.
