Profile:

Indian School of Mines was established at Dhanbad on December 9, 1926 by Lord Irwin. Indian School of Mines is also famous as ISM Dhanbad. The institute was actually established as a model of the famous Royal School of Mines. The admission in the school is made through the means of the joint entrance examination that are conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology. The institute was granted university status in the year 1967 under the UGC act. Later in the year 1996, the institute came under Ministry of Human Resource Development.
