How to prepare for Anna University Coimbatore Entrance Exam?

The Anna University Distance Education Entrance Examination will be held twice in a year. The exam will be conducted in July and January month. The candidate should have passed Bachelor degree from the recognized institute or university. They should have studied mathematics in their higher secondary level. The entrance test will be conducted in Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, Coimbatore and Vellore.

Structure of the Exam

The Entrance Exam consists of 100 objective type questions with multiple choices. Each question has four choices and the candidate has to select the right answer. The Entrance test paper is designed to check the candidate’s knowledge on the following areas. The candidate should surely prepare in both logical and analytical reasoning. There will also be questions in quantitative ability. The test will have some questions in computer awareness, basic science and verbal ability. The correct answer will be awarded one mark. The answer should be marked in OMR sheet. There is no negative marking for incorrect answer.

Syllabus of the exam

The verbal ability section covers the syllabus of reading comprehension, antonyms, synonyms, tenses, preposition, essay writing, etc. The candidate should improve their vocabulary skills by reading magazines, English newspapers and by watching English news. They can practice many online exams to improve their vocabulary skills. The Quantitative ability section covers the syllabus of algebra, numbers, probability, time and distance, percentage, profit and loss, etc. They should study all formulas and important points. They should study all these portions thoroughly as well as they have to practice many problems.

The logical reasoning and analytical reasoning section consists of data interpretation, analogies, data sufficiency, coding and decoding, arithmetic, logical and Boolean operations. The computer awareness section consists of basic concepts of computer, central processing unit, Input output devices, peripherals, etc. The candidate should prepare time table and allot time for each section. For logical reasoning section, they can refer CAT or MAT books. They can refer some guides or course materials online. The candidate should practice sample question papers and model question papers. They should go through the previous year question papers. This will give them clear idea about the exam. Sometimes the questions may be repeated. The candidate has to start their preparation earlier so that they will get more time for revision and mock tests.
